We are here to experience an earthly life
I love to fly with the Angels: I love to roam the skies and the Universe.
Quite frankly, I’ve never felt very much “at home” here on Earth. I had a longing to go home deeply within me.
When I was younger, I used to be very ungrounded and I did not miss anything – at least so I thought. However, I was kind of like a flag in the wind. And somehow I feel that prevented me from growing as much as I would have liked.
My base chakra and most of my lower chakras were always a bit smaller than the others and sometimes depleted of energy.
Lately, I have learnt how important grounding is – not only for myself but also for our Mother Earth.
I feel stronger and more at home after I’ve grounded myself. I embody my purpose much more. I feel wider and I feel I can hold more. I have become a true vessel.
Why grounding is important
Grounding is essential for your well-being and safety.
If people are not well grounded, they might be spacey and might not pay enough attention to what is going on down in their physical bodies.
People can release so much more when they are grounded. Mother Earth nurtures and deeply heals us.
When we are well grounded, we can stand in our personal power and make a point more easily and we tend not to get deterred by others so easily, either.
We feel more at home, and less like we are just drifting through life.
We feel embodied and have deeper feelings. Joy has a different texture when a person is grounded, and love is fuller.
We have a richer experience in our lives, and we feel more energized from the nurturing energy of Mother Earth.
We can fulfill our purposes better. We have the stamina and strength.
We have more energy and can follow through with our dreams, as the base chakra is more active.
When we are grounded, we can bring in the energy from the Universe and help Mother Earth rise to the 5th Dimension.
We are more aware physically and that can translate to being a better channel for spiritual messages.
It’s like with trees: the bigger the roots the bigger the crown.
How to ground yourself
There are several little exercises you can perform each day to feel more grounded.
Roots
You can imagine yourself standing barefoot on grass, moss, sand, or on the earth. Imagine roots growing out of the soles of your feet and the end of your spine and see them growing deep down into Mother Earth.
Soak up the beautiful, red energy from Mother Earth and let it come through your feet and spine into your body, running up, through your energy body and nourishing you.
Do that for a couple of minutes each day.
Enjoy this little video meditation on growing roots and grounding yourself.
Sitting on earth
Sit on the earth whenever possible, breathing it all in. Again, imagine growing roots deep, deep down into the center of Mother Earth, and let her energy come up and warm you.
Walking barefoot
Walk barefoot in nature whenever possible. It really helps us to connect with the essence of Mother Earth. Really pay attention to feeling the grassy ground beneath your feet.
It helps us to release stress and soak up fresh energy.
Lying on earth
I love to lie directly on the ground. Of course, you can use a blanket, or even have a picnic outside.
While lying there, ask Mother Earth to help you release anything you no longer need.
You will feel so refreshed afterward.
Hugging a tree
I love trees and I love to be around trees. I hug trees regularly and I bask in the wisdom of trees.
You can hug a tree to connect with the roots of the trees and breathe in the wisdom of nature.
You can also sit under a tree and lean on to the stem and just be there and breathe.
Walking in nature
Nature is our greatest healer; being out in nature opens a person up to the Energy of Mother Earth, which is deeply healing and so refreshing.
While walking, just feel the connection to Mother Earth with each step you take.
Salt Baths / Ocean
Of course, if you live near the ocean you can enjoy the energy of the ocean frequently and walk barefoot on sand.
Salt baths are deeply healing cleansing and also help us to connect with Mother Earth and with our bodies.
You can read more about this in my blog post, ‘Salt Baths‘
Imagine being covered in earth
I love to imagine being covered in earth or sand, like being dug in. It feels like a beautiful blanket wrapped around me, like being in a cave and just breathing in the beautiful energy of Mother Earth.
This exercise is so deeply releasing and strengthening.
Standing tall and proud
When you are outside, imagine yourself standing tall and proud, deeply rooted and grown tall.
Remember, the more rooted you, are the bigger your crown.
Being a tree
Standing tall and proud, imagine yourself being a tree: deeply grounded and flexible in your branches. You can sway your arms in the wind. Embrace the strength the grounding brings you.
Do the Yoga Pose of the tree out in nature. It’s so invigorating and grounds you deeply.
Gardening
When you are working in your garden, cover your hands in the soil. It will also help you with grounding.
Simply sitting in your garden and enjoying the beauty also helps.
Eating Root Vegetables
Eating root vegetables also helps you to ground and feel rooted.
Examples for Root Vegetables are:
- Carrots
- Beetroot
- Potatoes
- Parsnip
- Radish
- Sweet potatoes & Yams
- Ginger
- Turnip
- Kohlrabi
- Onion
- Garlic
Integrate root vegetables into your meals in order to feel more grounded.
Affirmations
I love how affirmations help us to confirm what we really want.
Examples for affirmations are:
- I am deeply grounded
- I love to feel grounded
- Mother Earth nurtures me
- Being grounded helps me grow
- I feel deeply nurtured by Mother Earth
- Mother Earth Loves me
- I feel connected to the love of Mother Earth
Repeat your affirmations a couple of times each day and see how they resonate with you.
Taking it all in
When you are outside in nature, just take a minute to really experience it all.
- Breathe in the smells
- Look around you and really see the colours and beauty
- Feel the wind or nature on your skin
- Chew on a blade of grass (or an edible flower)
- Listen to the sounds of nature (Do you hear birds?)
Experiencing nature with all our senses helps us to connect with Mother Earth.
I hope you will enjoy the journey to feeling more grounded.
